Grilled sea bream is a staple in Mediterranean cuisine, known for its delicate flavor and tender texture. Marinated with olive oil, garlic, and fresh herbs, this dish is simple to prepare yet delivers a sophisticated dining experience perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 whole sea bream (cleaned and gutted)
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil
  • 2 garlic cloves (minced)
  • 1 teaspoon dried oregano
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika (optional)
  • 1 lemon (sliced)
  • Salt and black pepper (to taste)
  • Fresh parsley (chopped, for garnish)

Instructions

Preparing the Fish:

  1. Rinse the sea bream under cold water and pat it dry with paper towels.
  2. Make a few shallow cuts on each side of the fish to allow the marinade to penetrate.

Marinating the Fish:

  1. In a small bowl, mix olive oil, minced garlic, dried oregano, smoked paprika (if using), salt, and black pepper.
  2. Rub the marinade all over the fish, including inside the cavity.
  3. Stuff the cavity with lemon slices for extra flavor.
  4. Let the fish marinate for 15-20 minutes.

Grilling the Sea Bream:

  1. Preheat a grill or grill pan to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates to prevent sticking.
  2. Place the marinated sea bream on the grill and cook for 6-8 minutes on each side, or until the flesh is opaque and flakes easily with a fork.

Serving:

  • Transfer the grilled sea bream to a serving platter.
  • Garnish with fresh parsley and serve with extra lemon wedges.
  • Pair with roasted vegetables, a fresh green salad, or crusty bread for a complete Mediterranean meal.
